One of Forbes ‘World's 100 Most Powerful Women’, Sue Gardner, formerly Director of Wikimedia, Sue is leading the forefront of the new workplace and pioneering change in the face of leadership. Innovative and inspirational Sue is true original. Her visionary thinking and technological expertise make her well-placed to speak on leadership, the internet and future technological developments.

One of Forbes ‘World's 100 Most Powerful Women’, Sue Gardner, formerly Director of Wikimedia, is now developing strategies on The Tor Project, as well as sitting on the board of Global Voices.

With a focus on increased participation, reach, and quality, and with a recognised talent in the areas of long-term sustainability and organisational maturity, Sue was one of the Foundation's free-knowledge project’s most important champions.

The classic radio show As It Happens was where Sue’s career began. Creating high-quality, award-winning programming, and then moving into journalism, where she specialised in pop culture, social issues and media analysis, turned her into an international culture guru, with specialist knowledge of a variety of social issues, including the rise and fall of rave culture in the UK; the return of the death penalty to New York and changing feminist attitudes towards pornography.

Sue’s rise up the business ranks led her to the most senior position at CBC.CA, the internet platform for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. She took the reins and the corporation experienced an unprecedented surge in viewing and listening figures and launched many new major multimedia technologies, including podcasting, breaking news alerts, and blogging.

She then moved to Wikimedia, - a nonprofit charitable organisation founded to encourage ‘the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual, educational content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge.’ Since leaving, she has become an advocate for the public interest online, she leads the long-term strategy for the Tor Project and is on the board of Global Voices.

Sue is a member of the Online News Association, the Society for News Design, Women in Film and Television, the Canadian Association of Journalists and Canadian Women In Communications.

Able to speak about the changing face of the web, the new knowledge economy and the future of leadership, Sue is a brilliant keynote speaker for the new workplace.
