Mark Henick

For more than 20 years, Mark Henick has been deeply involved in the mental health system.

Before he became one of Canada’s most prolific media voices in mental health awareness, Mark started as a patient. He was repeatedly hospitalized from an early age for severe depression and suicide attempts. Then, everything changed thanks to a stranger who pulled him from the edge of a bridge late one night. Ever since that night Mark has dedicated his life to opening minds and creating change for others.

Mark’s 2013 TEDx talk about the stranger who saved his life has been viewed millions of times, and it is among the most watched TEDx talks in the world. He has appeared in hundreds of television, radio, and print features on mental health. Mark’s work has been featured by CNN, the Chicago Tribune, the Globe and Mail, The Independent, Readers’ Digest, the Huffington Post, CTV National News, Entertainment Tonight, and many others. On his So-Called Normal podcast with EntertainmentOne, Mark had more than 60 intimate conversations about mental health with notable figures like Glenn Close and Rosie O’Donnell.

Mark has previously served on the board of directors for the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and as president of a Canadian Mental Health Association provincial division – the youngest person in history to do either. He has worked as a frontline clinician, a program manager, and as National Director of Strategic Initiatives for CMHA. Mark is presently the CEO and principal strategist for Strategic Mental Health Consulting, and he is a high-demand international keynote speaker on mental health recovery.

Mark's wealth of experience, combined with spellbinding delivery make him the ideal choice for a wide range of events.
