Beth Rigby is Sky News’ Political Editor, the first woman to hold this prestigious position. A leading face of the channel, she delivers political news from Westminster and across the UK. Described by RTS magazine as the “stand-out political broadcaster of our times,” Beth has been with Sky News since 2016, covering the Brexit referendum, two general elections, the Brexit debates, and the Covid pandemic. Known for her direct questions and fearless interviewing style, she has interviewed top political figures such as Boris Johnson, Sir Keir Starmer, Nicola Sturgeon, Theresa May, and Tony Blair. Beth co-anchors Sky’s overnight live election show and is a mainstay of Sky News' biggest evening bulletins, including the flagship Ten O’Clock News.

Before Sky News, Beth was a print journalist for nearly two decades. She began her career at the Financial Times in 1998, eventually becoming one of the newspaper’s youngest team leaders as Consumer Industries Editor in 2007. She excelled as a financial journalist, covering hedge funds, the City, and global consumer goods giants, and won industry awards for her retail and hedge fund coverage. In 2010, she joined the FT's Westminster team as Chief Political Correspondent, later becoming Deputy Political Editor. During this time, she reported on the financial crash, the Scottish independence referendum, the coalition government, and the 2015 general election.

Beth was also a familiar face on the BBC, regularly appearing on shows such as Sunday Politics, The Andrew Marr Show, and Have I Got News for You. She was a regular presenter for Radio 4’s What the Papers Say and Week in Westminster, and made guest appearances on the Today programme, Broadcasting House, The Media Show, Woman’s Hour, and Radio 5 Live.

Born in Colchester and raised in Buckinghamshire, Beth has strong northern roots with her mother from Wigan and her father from Lancaster. She graduated from Cambridge University with a first-class honours degree in Social & Political Science and holds a master's with distinction in Latin American Studies from the University of London.
