He has held a number of positions in the U.S. government, including tenure as Senior Economist for International Affairs at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for International Affairs and the Director of the Office of Policy Development and Review at the U.S. Treasury Department in 1999-2000.
He worked on the resolution of the Asian and global financial crises of the late 90’s, and the reform of the international financial architecture which followed.
