As a Partner at Steoptoe & Johnson LLP, he has spent over a decade dealing with internet law, privacy and developing counter-terrorism technologies online.

Previously, Michael headed the FBI’s National Infrastructure Protection Centre.  He founded the US Government agency responsible for detecting, warning and responding to cyber attacks – from terrorism and espionage to the threat of information warfare.  This encompassed the notorious ILOVEYOU virus and numerous cases of hacking.

Before joining the FBI, Michael served as Deputy Director of the Executive Office for National Security in the Department of Justice and advised the Attorney General on national security matters. He also worked as the Executive Director of the Markle Task Force.

He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Princeton and Harvard Law School.
