Maajid Nawaz is a prominent counter-extremism consultant and a regular writer, debater and public commentator. He is the Founding Chairman of Quilliam, created in 2008 as world’s first globally active think tank focusing on the unique challenges of citizenship, identity and belonging.

Spending years in his youth as part of a global Islamist group, Maajid gradually moved towards liberal democratic values and is now a leading critic of his former Islamist ideological dogma, while remaining a Muslim. A champion of human rights and individual liberty, Maajid spent four years as an Amnesty International adopted ‘prisoner of conscience’ in Egypt.

An influential speaker, he has spoken at a TED conference, and been interviewed by journalists from The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Telegraph and BBC Newsnight.

Maajid was the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for the May 2015 British General Election, and remains the Parliamentary spokesman for Camden Liberal Democrats in London.

Spreading his message on the importance of fighting extremism, Maajid is a prominent and accomplished keynote speaker.
