Kehinde Andrews

Dr Kehinde Andrews is Professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University whose research focuses on resistance racism, racism and movements for social change. He advised a number of corporations on equality and diversity issues and is an internal keynote speaker. Kehinde is founder of the Harambee Organisation of Black Unity; editor-in-chief of Make it Plain.  Kehinde is the first black studies professor in the UK and led the establishment of the first black studies programme in Europe at Birmingham City University

Dr Kehinde Andrews is Professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University.  His research focuses on resistance racism, racism and movements for social change.

His book The New Age of Empire: How Racism and Colonialism Still Rule the World was published in 2021 by Penguin Allen Lane in the UK and Bold Type Books in the US.  The book provoked the likes of Akala to declare that "Kehinde Andrews is a crucial voide walking in a proud tradition of Black radical criticism and action" and Russell Brand to state with respect to the book that "If you want to get beyond gestures and slogans and to the truth, this is the book to get you there"

He has also written Black to Black: Retelling Black Radicalism for the 21stCentury, Resisting Racism: Race, Inequality and the Black Supplementary School Movement and is editor of the Blackness in Britain book series with Bloomsbury.

Kehinde has written opinions pieces for outlets including the Guardian, Independent, Washington Post and CNN and regularly appears on television, podcasts and radio.
