Previously BBC’s Washington Correspondent, Katty’s career began in Zimbabwe in 1990 where she started filing radio reports for BBC World Service radio, and covered the end of apartheid in South Africa.
Katty was called on by the BBC, and as a correspondent in London then Tokyo, she reported on the economic recession in Japan and on the devastating Kobe earthquake.
In 1996 she made Washington her home, and took a break from the BBC to work at The Times’ Washington bureau for five years.
She also reported in depth on the huge change in American policy and psychology after the September 11 attacks. Katty was at the Pentagon just 20 minutes after a hijacked airplane flew into the building - one of her most vivid journalistic memories is of interviewing soldiers still visibly shaking from the attack.
Back at the BBC, Katty reports, writes and commentates on international as well as US affairs, including elections, Wall Street issues and the White House.
Katty is the author of a few books, including a New York Times best-seller, Womenomics: Write Your Own Rules for Success.
At the forefront of monumental decisions in The US, Katty has reported from the cutting edge of current affairs, she is both an experienced and charismatic keynote speaker and facilitator.
