Coffee Table Books That Leave A Lasting Impression: This Months Reading List

7 June 2019

After a long day at work, I love brewing a nice cup of tea and curling up on the couch or picnic blanket to read a few chapters of my latest book. These precious moments help me relax, escape and take a deep breath after a long day.

I find that living in this wonderful city does become overwhelming at times. If you’ve met me you’d know that I lack in the height department, and on a crowded tube people pile in around me. This is particularly unpleasant in summer, as I’m about armpit level. Like I said, it can be overwhelming!

This month I’ve decided to share a few books that are on my reading list, written by some of the incredible people we get to work with. So, if like me, you enjoy finding a little spot in the sun and enjoy diving into a great book, then I hope you enjoy this month’s reading list.

Katie Piper  | From Mother to Daughter: The Things I'd Tell My Child

Whether you're becoming a mum for the first time or you have children who are growing up faster than you could have ever imagined, motherhood can feel like the most joyful and yet the most daunting of times. But you're not alone.

Katie delves into her journey of motherhood, talking about her experiences, hopes and fears. She helps guide you through those wobbly moments that all will experience on the road to be a happy, healthy mum and raise children who are happy to be themselves.

Kate Humble  | Friend For Life: The Extraordinary Partnership Between Humans and Dogs

There is one animal that is familiar to all of us, whoever we are, wherever we live. I'm talking of course, of the dog. Yet, this animal, which lives alongside five hundred million of us all over the world - as an invaluable partner and a trusted confidant - presents us with one great unsolved mystery: how did this relationship - the most complex and enduring of any between human and animal - start in the first place?

Kate is a life-long animal lover and since moving to a farm in Wales, she has had the ability to surround herself with as many furry friends as possible. But like many Brits, she holds a special place in her heart for her sheepdog puppy Teg. Using their relationship, she dives into the friendship they have developed, with added stories about rescue dogs, guide dogs, service dogs and medical dogs. If you have a four-legged friend(s), then this is a must read for you!

Julia Bradbury  | Unforgettable Walks: Best Walks with a View

Now a mother of three, Julia once more pulls on her hiking boots and goes in search of Britain's Best Walks with a View for ITV. Join her as she sets out along eight of the UK's best-loved paths, showcasing Britain's beauty and opening our eyes to the sights and sounds, the flora and fauna and the stories, past and present, of the places and people she passes on the way.

Julia takes the reader on a journey (literally) as she criss-crosses the British Countryside in the search for the perfect walk with the perfect view. I mean, what more could you want? Join her and the charismatic characters she meets through sun, rain and wind as she treks around Britain.

Richard Reed  | If I could Tell You One Thing…: Encounters with Remarkable People and Their Most Valuable Advice

If I Could Tell You Just One Thing . . . curates invaluable wisdom from 50 of today's most remarkable, diverse, and influential voices in an engaging collection of profiles. Paired with a specially commissioned pen-and-ink portrait, each essay and its illuminating nugget of life advice is gathered together and is sure to surprise, entertain, and encourage readers—and leave a lasting impression.

Sit in with Richard as he reflects on some of the world’s most incredible humans who he had the privilege of meeting and interviewing including Judy Dench, Bear Grylls and Sir David Attenborough. Read their incredible stories and their advice on how to tackle some of life’s difficult and testing moments. Be prepared to be inspired!

Alexandra Shulman  | Inside Vogue: My Diary Of Vogue's 100th Year

Alexandra Shulman reveals the emotional and logistical minefield of producing the 100th anniversary issue (that Duchess of Cambridge cover surprise), organizing the star-studded Vogue 100 Gala, working with designers from Victoria Beckham to Karl Lagerfeld and contributors from David Bailey to Alexa Chung. All under the continual scrutiny of a television documentary crew.

Have you ever wondered what the life of a fashion magazine editor might be like? Then this book is the one for you! Follow Alexandra through the incredible ups and downs and testing times for a woman who loves her job. This painfully honest and sharply observes account of a tremendous year at the very centre of British fashion and culture.

Alexander Armstrong  | The 100 Most Pointless Things in the World: A pointless book written by the presenters of the hit BBC 1 TV show

From the presenters of the hit BBC One TV show, Pointless, comes a collection of musings on some of the most pointless things, places and facts in everyday modern life. This book is the perfect blend of the obscure, the fascinating and the downright silly.

If you like the TV show Pointless, then you’ll love this book. The perfect read if you want something light-hearted and funny to help take the stress of the day away, with the added bonus of learning some fun facts along the way!
