Star of stage and screen Denise Van Outen burst onto our screens as presenter of Big Breakfast back in 1996. Denise is now a household name. An established stage performer, Denise played Roxy in Chicago in the West End and on Broadway. With extensive presenting experience, Denise makes a great awards host with her fun and bubbly personality.
The face of the Big Breakfast and The West End’s Chicago, Denise Van Outen is one of the UK’s best loved TV and stage performers.
In 1996 Denise’s career kicked off when she joined Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast to co-present with Johnny Vaughan. The duo’s on-air chemistry brought viewing figures up to record levels, and the sweet and cheeky Essex girl became a household name.
Hit ITV sitcom Babes in the Wood was her next move, and she returned to The Big Breakfast for another year before she took her talents to the stage.
She stunned musical-lovers and critics as Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End, and the show was sold out for the entire run, before she broke the US with rave reviews for the same role on Broadway.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s one-woman show Tell Me On A Sunday followed, and then Denise returned to TV when she then joined the cast of the popular ITV drama Where The Heart Is.
As lead presenter on Sky One’s entertainment show The Race, set at the infamous Silverstone Circuit, Denise refereed a race between a celebrity Girls Team against celebrity Boys, headed by racing legend David Coulthard and Eddie Irvine.
She has also presented BBC1’s National Lottery Christmas Special and guest hosted Channel 4’s hit show The Friday Night Project.
Denise’s next step was to return to the US to present NBC’s Grease: You’re the One That I Want!, and then a personal request from Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber brought her back to the UK to front the BBC’s Any Dream Will Do!, where the winner of the show, Lee Mead became her then husband.
Denise then starred in the re-working of the musical Rent, and reunited with Johnny Vaughan for the Capital Breakfast Show.
In 2009 Denise co-produced and starred Blondes, a one-woman show which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to rave reviews. Her one-woman play Some Girl I Used to Know will tour the UK in 2014.
She has also launched her own maternity clothing range, and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, as well as hosting a weekly show on Magic FM. Her iconic voice narrates the reality TV show TOWIE, as she proves there is no shortage of her talents.
