A record-breaking cyclist,TV presenter and ultra-endurance adventurer, Mark Beaumont's BBC documentaries have taken viewers to over 100 countries - through the Arctic, into the high mountains and around the Commonwealth. Full of passion and relatable lessons as a motivational and keynote speaker, Mark's approach is straightforward: don’t allow the big picture to scare you, but instead set manageable targets and learn to control the risks.
Ultra-endurance adventurer , TV presenter and broadcaster, and record-breaking cyclist, Mark Beaumont’s 18,000 mile round-the-world bike race smashed records – namely the previous record - by a staggering 82 days. His next adventure was a 13,000 mile cycle down the length of the Rockies and Andes, climbing the highest mountains in Alaska and Argentina.
Not only a bike fan, Mark rowed through the high Arctic, and stunned his family and supporters by surviving a near-catastrophic capsize whilst rowing the Atlantic.
Full of passion and relatable lessons, Mark shares his stories through keynote and motivational speaking, and in his honest and engaging BBC documentaries.
Mark presented the build up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games as the Queen's Baton relay made its way around 70 nations and territories.
In 2015, Mark undertook a seemingly impossible task - cycling from Cairo to Capetown in record time.
Mark relates his skills to business through continual ambassadorial roles with companies for over ten years, and is a committed charity fundraiser. His first cycle across Scotland raised £3000. He was 12 years old. Mark repeated the feat as an adult – and raised over £100,000 by running and swimming across the country.
Mark has been supporting Orkidstudio since 2010, an impact design organisation whose focus is to benefit children and communities worldwide through innovative architecture and construction. Both Mark and the founder of Orkidstudio - James Mitchell - have family roots in the town of Kilmacolm, near Glasgow.
In recognition of his work with young people, charity and his sporting achievements, Mark was named Top Scot 2011 and presented an Honorary Doctorate from Dundee University in 2013.
