Jamie Murray Wells OBE is a pioneering entrepreneur, known for founding Glasses Direct and leading it to become Europe’s largest online glasses retailer. Over a decade, Jamie transformed the optical industry, introducing innovations like virtual try-on, home trial boxes, and personalised retail experiences, which set new standards in online retail worldwide. Under his leadership, Glasses Direct grew to ship thousands of pairs daily to over 50 countries, reshaping a market once dominated by limited choice and high prices.

Since then, Jamie has brought his expertise to Google as Head of Digital Platform Enablement, where he focuses on building new product areas, particularly within Extended Reality ecosystems and innovation partnerships. His passion for enterprise has seen him advise extensively on UK business policy, including three years on the Shadow Chancellor’s New Enterprise Council, where he later co-founded *StartUp Britain*—an initiative launched at 10 Downing Street to champion UK entrepreneurship.

Throughout his career, Jamie’s achievements have been recognised with prestigious awards, including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in 2009 and an OBE in 2015 for Services to Business.
