Ben Ryan

The longest-serving and most successful England Sevens coach, his last tournament with them took them to the World Cup final - a feat not accomplished for 20 years.

Starting out as a rugby player himself, Ben seamlessly moved into the world of coaching to lead the Fiji 7s Rugby Team to win a Gold medal at the Rio Olympics. This historic achievement taught Ben incredible lessons of leadership, communication and management which he can pass on to the corporate world in an engaging and empowering way.

Ben first played for Bedford Blues and West Hartlepool in the Premiership, following his move into coaching, he began this career in the 15-a-side game. Shortly after, he was appointed as Director of Rugby at Newbury RFC, and his talent was quickly noticed here.

Ben’s forward-thinking approach and radical strategies have seen him have a fruitful career coaching southwest schools and England U18s as well as guest coaching various Premiership Clubs.

His most historic and successful move was his coaching appointment of the Fiji 7s team, leading them to win an Olympic Gold medal in the 2016 Rio games. Ben was named Ratu Peni Raini Latianara in Fiji, became Chief in the province of Serua, and was awarded the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the highest order attainable on the Islands.

He is the Pacific Person of the Year and was short-listed for World Rugby Coach of the Year. These incredible achievements are a testament to Ben’s ground-breaking coaching strategies.
