How to Improve Your Company Christmas Party: What to Do & How to Organise it

Georgina Clarke 31 October 2024

Christmas parties are perfect way to round off the year, by bring teams together and spreading the festive cheer! Corporate parties create memorable events that brings teams closer together, and with over half (53%) of UK companies putting aside big budgets to treat their teams during the festive season, it’s no wonder why these events are so highly anticipated by employees.

Giving your employees something to bond over and talk about over the festive period and into the New Year can keep them motivated during the colder and typically quieter months. But with so many options out there, where do you even begin?

Set Your Party Goals

Is the party about celebrating wins, rewarding hard work, or just having a good time?

Decide on goals for the night that are suitable for your team. Is your team a small bunch, who would prefer an intimate, more relaxed gathering? Or do you have a larger organisation filled with extroverts who would love a competitive activity of some kind?

Whilst the party needs to be engaging and exciting for all guests, it can be hard to cater for everyone if the team is particularly large. If this is the case, consider doing a larger activity followed by something more intimate, this way everyone gets a taste of their preference!

Choose the Perfect Winter Wonderland Venue

The venue is crucial to whether the party is a success or not, as it must comfortably suit the number of attendees. You don’t want a room so big it feels like wasted space, likewise you don’t want somewhere too small. And it’s important to decorate the space!

The global market for Christmas decorations was estimated to be worth over seven billion U.S. dollars in 2023 - lights, trees and everything in between are still well-loved, so make sure to deck out the venue!

Create a Holiday Party Plan

Plan out the essentials, making sure there’s plenty of food and drinks to go around. Remember to be inclusive of everyone’s dietary needs and drink preferences, and be aware of different holiday traditions people may follow.

Scheduling out the evening will also keep you on track if you’re going to multiple locations or need to be leaving the venue at a certain time. Creating table/floor plans can also be incredibly useful to ensure you’re utilising the space well and means everyone will be sat for dinner quicker.

If you’re planning a particularly lavish Christmas party, it could be worth hiring a photographer and/or videographer to capture memories of the night. Not only does this give attendees a great souvenir from the night, but the content is also fantastic marketing material for your business!

Add a Public Speaker to Wow the Crowd

Public speakers may not be the first thing you think of when organising a Christmas work party, but trust us when we tell you that a charismatic speaker can inject bounds of energy and holiday spirit into the event!

Motivational speakers can inspire teams as they look towards the New Year, uplifting their spirits and motivate them to try something new in the upcoming January.

Hilarious comedians will make the event memorable for clear reasons, especially if they’re a familiar face. If you’re giving awards out at the event, the comedian may also double-up as a host for the evening.

Entertainers that range from magicians, dancers, impressionists, DJs and everything in between are fabulous options to make your Christmas party truly unique. We have acts to suit any niche, offering unique angles to elevate events; from handwriting analysts to influencers – to name a few!

If you’ve got the budget to do so, a big named After Dinner Speaker or celebrity will make a lasting impression, heightening attendee interest and talk of the event.

Speakers create unforgettable moments, making the event feel extra special and giving your team something unique to remember!

Wrapping It All Up Like a Present!

A great company Christmas party is all about thoughtful planning, keeping it festive and creating lasting memories.

We’d highly recommend starting early, as venues and activities get booked up very quickly in busy cities. Adding the Christmas cheer not only at the festive party, but also in the office in the lead up to the holiday will boost morale and inject energy into your team – who doesn’t love a beautifully decorated Christmas tree?
