Donald Trump is elected as the 45th President of the United States

Donald Trump has been elected the 45th President of the United States, after winning against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The Republican candidate’s win came down to a number of key swing states. It was his triumph in Wisconsin that put him past the 270 mark of the electoral college votes needed to become President.

In his victory speech, Trump said that it is time for Americans to “come together as one united nation”.

Succeeding Democratic President Obama after two four-year terms, time will tell what this will mean for America and, the world.
