2010 saw Russell win the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award for his show ‘Smokescreens and Castles’ -the most prestigious award in Comedy -having been shortlisted for the award a total of 3 times including one nomination for Best Newcomer for his Edinburgh show, ‘The Theory of Pretension’. Going on to win Australia’s Barry Award, Russell has proved his worth globally, proving himself as an international sensation.
Russell has had a prolific career, not only is he a quick-witted comic, but also a playwright, radio host and presenter, being the author of 'The Great British Country Fete' for the Bush Theatre. He was part of ITV2's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here Now presenting team, and he hosted series 5 and 6 of Out To Lunch, BBC Radio 2's Saturday lunchtime comedy show.
Alongside all of this Russell has continued to tour both sides of the globe with his comedy shows. Making special appearances at Live at the Apollo, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and he performed with the RSC, in Stratford Upon Avon.
A regular on TV and radio, Russell has appeared on BBC 2’s Mock the Week, Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats, BBC Radio 4’s It’s Your Round and A Good Read.
Russell appeared in all 6 episodes of ITV 1’s Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford and was a guest on BBC 1’s The Graham Norton Show.
