Former triple jump Olympic champion, Jonathan Edwards' extraordinary achievements on the track have earned him a place in history as one of the World's greatest and best-loved athletes.

After a 15-year career, Jonathan made his last competitive triple jump at the World Athletics Championships in Paris in 2003, signifying the end of an era for British Athletics. He is now an awards host and presenter of the highest calibre and the BBC's face of sport.

He is set to move to Eurosport as the Lead Presenter of the broadcaster's Olympics coverage in an exclusive deal from January 2017. Until then, he continues to cover athletics events for both the BBC and Eurosport, making his Eurosport debut at the European Aquatics Championships in London in May 2016.

Jonathan first made the record books in 1995 when he set a devastating World Record at the World Championships in Gothenburg with an amazing jump of 18.29m; no one has even come close to this distance.

Throughout a glittering career, there were few titles that Jonathan did not win. At the end of the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 that he achieved his ultimate goal of winning Gold with a leap of 17.77m – capturing the heart of the nation in the process, coming home to a hero's welcome.

Awarded an MBE in 1996 and CBE in 2001 in recognition of his achievements, Jonathan remains passionate about his sport and equally enthusiastic about broadcasting.

He embarked on his broadcasting career on the BBC Athletics team and is now well established as one of the key pundits and commentators for BBC Sport covering all the major events including the Olympics in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Jonathan’s success in the commentary box has led to commissions to front some of BBC 1’s landmark documentaries and reporting jobs for BBC Look North’s regional sports coverage to keep his local fans happy! He also hosted a prime-time series of lifestyle programmes called Spirituality Shopper for Channel 5 and utilised his interest and degree in science to present his own Radio 4 science series, Jonathan Edwards Looks In To.

Outside of broadcasting, Jonathan is an integral member of LOCOG, sitting on the board as their athlete representative. He is Chair of the Sports Advisory Group, having played a hugely significant role in London’s successful bid and is a member of the Athletes Advisory Group as an Official Ambassador. His importance continued to be recognized when he was appointed as the Deputy Chair of the London 2012 Nations and Regions Group, helping to ensure the benefits of the Games are maximized across the UK. He is a Lloyds TSB London 2012 Ambassador working closely with the bank up to and beyond the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Jonathan has been required to take to the stage at countless high-profile media gatherings and is an accomplished, controlled and comfortable speaker.
