Alex (Robert Bathurst)

Alex is a city institution. The cartoon about life in the City of London appears every day on the front page of the Daily Telegraph Business Section.  Alex has taken to the stage for a live show which has toured the world, and his radio show on Classic FM won a Sony award – the ‘Oscars’ of radio. Alex is a rip-roaring alternative to the standard after dinner or cabaret act. Played by the accomplished Cold Feet actor Robert Bathurst, he parodies the world of banking with a confident, front-foot and a compelling demeanour.

Alex covers topical issues such as the credit crunch; the bail-out; the balance between banks and the government’s money, all built into an apposite, unreconstructed rant – yet despite himself he exudes vulnerability and is immensely likeable.

Robert Bathurst is best known for his role as David Marsden in the hit ITV series Cold Feet. Other TV roles include Mark Taylor in Joking Apart, Mark Thatcher in Coup! and the Prime Minister in My Dad's The Prime Minister.
